Academy Suggests Revisions to OAA Participants Survey

The Administration for Community Living conducts the National Survey of Older Americans Act Participants, which includes participants in senior congregate meals programs and home-delivered meals programs. The results of this study help ACL assess how well it is fulfilling its Congressional mandate to operate effective and well-run senior programs. ACL periodically revises the survey instrument and opens it up for public comment.

In comments submitted last week, the Academy continued to support the administration of the survey, including its questions on food security, and suggested additional questions related to malnutrition, medically tailored meals, and culturally appropriate meals to reflect the newly acknowledged importance of these issues in the 2020 reauthorization of the Older Americans Act.
