Governance

The Academy is committed to collaboration, innovation and respect — supporting an organizational culture where volunteer leaders, members and employees feel welcome, included and empowered to succeed.

The Academy is led by a diverse board of passionate leaders committed to delivering positive impact to its members and the nutrition and dietetics community worldwide. The Board of Directors overseas the strategic direction, budget and legal matters, guidelines and policies of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Many decisions are informed by the work of Academy committees—groups of Academy members working together to collectively address issues of importance to the organization. All committees establish goals for each program year. The goals are designed to support the Academy's strategic plan.

The House of Delegates identifies and escalates professional topics and trends, oversees the development of position statements and practice guidelines, maintains a Code of Ethics, establishes Academy member qualifications as well as the affiliates dues formula, and amends Academy Bylaws.
