The Academy seeks nominations for the newly formed Department of Health and Human Services Healthcare Advisory Committee. Fifteen individuals from across the health system will be appointed to two-year terms. Nominees should have practical, tactical expertise in the U.S. healthcare system and a track record of advancing high-value care for patients and providers.
The Academy aims to put forward at least two recommendations.

A single PDF (max 10 pages) including:
- Cover letter with nominee contact information
- Statement of qualifications, including specific knowledge areas related to the Committee's scope and relevant expertise, including professional and academic credentials
- Current resume or CV documenting:
- Education and relevant professional experience
- Publications or work samples demonstrating expertise (no brochures or promotional materials)
- Prior Federal Advisory Committee experience, if applicable
- Brief statement of interest, availability, and eligibility
- Two reference letters (one may be supplied by the Academy if the candidate is selected for nomination)
Committee Responsibilities
- Advise the HHS Secretary and CMS Administrator on strategies to improve operations and outcomes of federally administered programs.
- Identify opportunities to modernize healthcare delivery and payment.
- Offer insight on regulatory, technology, and policy approaches that reduce burden, improve safety, and support measurable outcomes.
Candidate Qualifications
Professional Expertise & Experience
Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
- Chronic disease prevention and management (ex: creating or leading successful prevention/management programs)
- Expanding access to primary care (ex: establishing integrated care models; leadership in an ACO, PCMH, or other value-based initiative)
- Reducing healthcare costs (ex: publishing cost-effectiveness research; payer/program leadership that lowers total cost of care)
- Ensuring payment accuracy (ex: compliance and billing integrity; research on payment methodologies)
- Healthcare price transparency (ex: advancing transparency policy; enabling consumer access to price data)
- Improving patient and provider outcomes (ex: leading HEDIS or eCQM implementation; developing new care models)
Leadership & Communication
Evidence of the ability to influence and communicate effectively, such as:
- Leading multi-stakeholder coalitions or serving on boards focused on chronic disease improvement
- Serving as a subject-matter expert or providing testimony to state legislatures or Congress
- Publishing research or policy analyses that inform decision-making
- Designing and implementing population health programs with measurable outcomes
Membership & Terms
- Two-year, voluntary service
- Service is without compensation but travel and per diem will be reimbursed per Federal Travel Regulations
- Membership includes Representative Members (speaking on behalf of organizations/constituencies) and Special Government Employees (SGEs) providing independent expertise
- Nominees must be U.S. citizens and not registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938, as amended
