Public Announcements and Statements

The Academy makes public announcements or statements in support of initiatives or programs at federal, state and local levels; letters or submissions to professional groups and non-governmental organizations, and responses to the press such as letters to the editor and other expository submissions to newspapers, periodicals, television, radio and cable stations and other mass media.

Regulatory comments are an opportunity for the Academy to provide input or recommendations on the implementation of government programs. Once legislation is signed into law, it is sent to the appropriate government agency to write supplemental rules so the law can be implemented. These rules are called "regulations." Rules and regulations provide the means by which the government can administer a law. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has developed formal comments in advocacy areas on food, nutrition and health topics. These comments are submitted on rules, proposed rules and notices to agency dockets or to other addresses identified in Federal Register documents.

Regulatory comments and public statements are shared with Academy members through the eatrightPRO.org News Center, via the Eat Right Weekly weekly email or other member communication channels.
