Published for more than 100 years, the Academy’s flagship professional, peer-reviewed publication, the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (JAND) has had an increase in its Impact Factor, jumping from 4 to 5.2.
In addition, JAND's quartile ranking has increased from Q2 to Q1 in the category of Nutrition and Dietetics and is currently ranked as #25 of 114 in Q1. In quartile rankings, journals are grouped by their subject category and divided into quartiles/ranking zones. Q1 consists of the top 25% highest-impact journals in the field and are generally the most prestigious and selective.
The updated Impact Factors were released earlier this month in Journal Citation Reports 2026. The Impact Factor of an academic journal is calculated by Clarivate's and measures the frequency a journal's articles are cited within a designated time period. The annual Journal Citation Report Impact Factor is a ratio between citations and recent citable items published. The Impact Factor of a journal is calculated by dividing the number of current year citations to the source items published in that journal during the previous two years.
Reaching clinical practitioners, researchers, educators, students as well as many other areas of practice, the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics features original research that advances knowledge across a wide range of nutrition and dietetics topics, including foods and nutrients and their implications in health and disease, dietary patterns and interventions, nutrigenomics, medical nutrition therapy, public health, nutrition epidemiology, biotechnology, foodservice systems, and management in food and nutrition systems.
