There are a variety of policy and legislative proposals in progress that pose a significant challenge to the Academy's vision of a world where all people thrive through the transformative power of nutrition. Any one of them on its own would create issues. Collectively, they represent a fundamental threat to our ability to provide domestic and global nutrition and food security. On Friday, June 13, the Academy sent a letter to Congressional Appropriators, signed by 20 trusted health organizations, calling for immediate protection of nutrition programs. Read the letter.
The evidence shows us these programs work. The Academy has launched a new web page with more information about the proven science and success of federally funded nutrition programs and initiatives. We call on anyone who cares about protecting our nutrition and food security investments to take action and make their voices heard before these decisions are codified. Additionally, we call on Congress to use their votes to support food and nutrition programs that are proven to work.
