The Academy is dedicated to ensuring America's children are fed safe, nutritious and appealing meals in school.
This week, the Academy sent recommendations to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in response to the agency's request for input on best ways to deliver school nutrition programs in an efficient and effective manner, while focusing on what is best for the health of our nation's students. The Academy applauds the efforts to reduce the administrative burden of delivering school meals. In the letter, the Academy called on Congress and USDA to adequately support school nutrition program infrastructure, employee training and technical assistance, student nutrition and food waste education and sufficient seat time while maintaining strong nutrition standards.
