Academy Celebrates Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day, March 11, During National Nutrition Month®

CHICAGO - In honor of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Day today, March 11, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is proud to shine a spotlight on the impactful work of RDNs. Held annually on the second Wednesday of March during National Nutrition Month®, RDN Day highlights the role that nutrition and dietetics professionals play in guiding food and nutrition decisions everywhere food and nutrition decisions are made, including clinical care, education, food access and public policy.
"Today, we recognize the work of RDNs around the country who are committed to enhancing the health of individuals and communities they serve with evidence-based nutrition science, especially at a time when conflicting nutrition advice is widespread," says 2025-2026 Academy President Deanne Brandstetter, MBA, RDN, CDN, FAND.
The Academy launched a new multi-year campaign, A Seat at Every Table, to elevate nutrition and dietetics professionals as credible, evidence-based experts in nutrition amid the growing amount of conflicting nutrition information from places like social media and AI tools. Individuals who hold the RDN credential meet rigorous academic and professional standards, including earning a master's degree, completing Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics accredited coursework, finishing at least 1,000 hours of supervised practice and passing the Commission on Dietetic Registration credentialing exam, along with ongoing professional education throughout their careers.
"RDNs support communities nationwide in a variety of settings helping people achieve their individualized health goals as well as influencing nutrition decisions at the national level by translating research into realistic and enjoyable guidance," says Brandstetter.
The 2026 National Nutrition Month® campaign theme, "Discover the Power of Nutrition," highlights how nutrition empowers individuals and communities to thrive. The Academy's website features helpful National Nutrition Month® resources for kids and adults to incorporate healthy habits every day.
