Academy Celebrates Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered Day, March 12, During National Nutrition Month®

March 12, 2026

CHICAGO – The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is proud to celebrate Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR) Day today, March 12, by recognizing the impactful work of NDTRs. Held annually on the second Thursday of March during National Nutrition Month®, NDTR Day highlights the role of NDTRs in helping consumers make informed food choices and develop healthful eating and physical activity habits throughout the year.

"NDTRs transform evidence-based nutrition science into actionable guidance that advances public health under the supervision of registered dietitian nutritionists," says 2025-2026 Academy President Deanne Brandstetter, MBA, RDN, CDN, FAND.

Individuals who hold the NDTR credential must have an associate degree or bachelor's degree, complete a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics, and pass a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

"Through food and nutrition education, supervised hands-on training, and a commitment to lifelong learning, NDTRs are equipped to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams across diverse settings," Brandstetter says.

The 2026 National Nutrition Month® campaign theme, "Discover the Power of Nutrition," highlights how nutrition empowers individuals and communities to thrive. The Academy's website features helpful National Nutrition Month® resources for kids and adults to incorporate healthy habits every day.
