Onuoha is vice president for real estate and special programs at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. Previously, she was director of the hospital's Prenatal Care Assistance Program; Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children; administrator for the Nurse Family Partnership; and diabetes programs. Through her role at the hospital, she has expanded access to services for underserved communities, recruited and cultivated a diverse staff that reflects the communities and improved operational and financial performance through innovation and grants. She has also worked as director of nutrition and WIC programs at Ryan-Nena Community Health Center in New York City and as a nutrition consultant for health care agencies including the Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center in Brooklyn and the Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership in Manhattan.

Onuoha is a member of the Academy's Committee on Lifelong Learning and Definition of Terms Taskforce. Onuoha is a past member of the Quality Management Committee; the Council on Future Practice and the Credentialing and Accreditation Task Force; and was secretary of the Academy's Women's Health and Reproductive Nutrition dietetic practice group. Onuoha has served on boards including the International Board for Lactation Consultants Examiners. She is a member and vice president of the board for the Grant Professional Certification Institute; a board member of RiseBoro Community Partnerships in Brooklyn as well as the National WIC Association's representative to the USDA/NWA Risk Identification and Selection Collaborative.

Onuoha is an international board-certified lactation consultant, a certified diabetes educator and a certified grant professional; and has earned specialty certificates in leadership as well as child weight management and adult weight management.

Onuoha is a graduate of the College of Technology in Owerri, Nigeria, and earned a master's degree from Anambra State University of Technology in Enugu, Nigeria.
