Advocating for Nutrition Research

11/09/2021 - The Academy provided the National Institutes of Health with input on research opportunities to end hunger, food and nutrition insecurity, emphasizing the importance of allocating funds for nutrition-related research to address these important issues.

The Academy highlighted the following research needs: 1) better understanding of the intersection of hunger, nutrition security and malnutrition; 2) the role of Medical Nutrition Therapy in addressing nutrition insecurity; 3) the impact of better coordination among federal, state and local organizations to address hunger and food and nutrition insecurity; and 4) how federal nutrition programs can be improved and expanded to address nutrition security.
