Academy Virtual Lobby Day Highlights Importance of Nutrition Security for Children

07/28/2021 - Congress has an opportunity in 2021 to build upon the success of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act and lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic to continue to strengthen and expand the reach of the child nutrition programs that provide an integrated system of nutrition support and are a critical line of defense against food insecurity for millions of America's children.

Yesterday, nearly 50 advocates met with 40 congressional offices to discuss crucial federal programs, including school meals and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Programs for Women, Infants, and Children. Advocating for policies and federal programs that ensure children have access to healthful, nutritious meals, continues to be one of the Academy's top priorities.
