Academy Rings Closing Bell During Nasdaq's Wellness Week

As part of its commitment to feature companies and organizations dedicated to health and wellness, Nasdaq invited the Academy to kick off its Wellness Week.

January 4, 2023 – Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics President Ellen R. Shanley, MBA, RDN, CDN, FAND, and 29 members from the New York area represented the Academy on Tuesday, January 3, to ring Nasdaq’s Closing Bell.

“The Academy and our members are strong advocates for programs that have been proven effective in improving health through research, education and advocacy,” Shanley said. “Most recently, Academy members were instrumental in the development of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health. We look forward to continuing to serve as a resource as we shape the future of health and nutrition in America, and to accelerate improvements in global health and well-being through food and nutrition.”

Nasdaq invited the Academy to kick off Nasdaq’s Wellness Week as a part of its commitment to feature companies and organizations dedicated to health and wellness.

“The goals of Nasdaq’s Wellness Week match closely with the goals of the Academy,” Shanley said. “Like you, we are dedicated to promoting good health, regular physical activity and wellness.”

National Academy Spokespeople Sandra Arevalo, MPH, RDN, CDN, CLC, CDCES, FAND, and Theresa Gentile, MS, RDN, CDN, also joined Shanley at the ceremony.
