Hall 1

CPE: 1.0

Proficiency: Intermediate knowledge/experience

Track: Media & Communication

Theme: Disruptors & Debate

Description

In today's complex social and political climate, nutrition and dietetics practitioners regularly face new and evolving ethical dilemmas. Questionable policy changes, dismissal of scientific guidelines, polarized communication, and shifting priorities in public health and prevention have created uncertainty in how credentialed dietetics practitioners advocate, educate, and lead. Practitioners often find themselves caught between professional ethics, personal emotions, and public debate, whether addressing food assistance policy, sustainability conversations, or misinformation on social media. This dynamic panel brings together experts in policy, nutrition science, and communication to explore what it means to "stay ethical" in a divided world. This session equips nutrition and dietetics professionals with tools to navigate these challenges confidently and ethically. Through real-world examples and interactive discussion, participants will learn strategies to uphold integrity, promote and communicate evidence-based practice, and navigate conversations effectively in polarized spaces. Attendees will leave with practical frameworks to guide decision-making, strengthen advocacy grounded in ethics, and enhance confidence in representing the nutrition profession with professionalism and compassion. Planned with the Academy's Ethics Committee
