Description : The mouth has long been recognized as the gateway to the body; yet nutrition professionals rarely engage with dental colleagues for whom the mouth is their primary professional domain. Nutrition and oral health have a synergistic relationship - what (and how) we eat impacts our oral health and likewise, the state of our oral health impacts our ability to eat. This engaging session will provide an overview of key issues in oral health that nutrition professionals should know and highlight opportunities to establish collaborations with dental health professionals.
Learning Objectives
- After this Learning Lounge presentation, attendees should be able to summarize the primary ways in which diet and nutrition impact oral health and identify opportunities for interprofessional collaboration with dental providers.
