Program Directors Workshops

The Program Director workshops are designed to help dietetic education program directors learn the latest accreditation standards and specific details on how to prepare for self-study reports and site visits.

Individuals interested in applying to start a new ACEND® program as well as newly appointed program directors are welcome and encouraged to attend and may be eligible for a registration discount. If you meet the discount requirements, as outlined in the ACEND fee schedule, contact ACEND® at acend@eatright.org for a discount code before you register.

Clinical Skills Workshop

Date: Saturday, October 8
Time: 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This includes travel to and from the workshop from FNCE®.

The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics will be sponsoring its first Clinical Skills Workshop addressing new KRDN 3.4 and CRDNs 3.3-3.6 in the 2022 ACEND® Accreditation Standards in connection with FNCE®. The workshop is intended to provide hands-on instruction on feeding tube placement, flush and site care, bedside diagnostics, and a swallowing screen in a high-fidelity simulation setting. Attendees will receive detailed handouts and rubrics to assist in students/interns' assessment of each of the skills.

Location

Orlando, Fla. with travel to a Simulation Lab at Nova Southeastern University in Clearwater, Fla. (transportation provided from and to FNCE®.

Total travel to and from the workshop is three hours.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss the supporting rationale for enhanced clinical skills.
  2. Develop skills related to clinical diagnostics and care.
  3. Demonstrate hands-on clinical skills in a simulation setting.

Registration Information

Cost:

The cost to attend the workshop is $550 per attendee. You must complete the scholarship application (information below) to be eligible to attend the workshop.

A light meal, snacks, beverages and transportation to and from the workshop are included in the registration fee. Registration for FNCE® is not required to attend the skills workshop.

Scholarship Opportunity

To help offset the registration fee, ACEND® is providing $400.00 scholarships, which would lower the cost for attendees after scholarship to $150.00. To apply for the scholarship, please complete the application by August 15. Preference for scholarships will be given to current ACEND® program directors.

Registration will be limited to 30 participants. Registration and payment information will be provided to scholarship recipients once the application review is complete. Once scholarships are awarded, attendees must register by August 30. Failure to register will result in forfeiting your scholarship and ability to attend the workshop.

Cancellations:

Cancellations submitted to acend@eatright.org in writing on or before September 26 will be refunded (minus a $50.00 processing fee). Registrations are non-refundable after September 26.

Travel/Hotel

Travel and hotel expenses to Orlando, Fla. are the responsibility of the attendee. Please do not make any non-refundable travel arrangements until you have received written confirmation from ACEND® that you are enrolled in the workshop.
