Track: Media, Marketing & Communications

Description

Effective research communication and dissemination are crucial for supporting evidence-based dietetics practice. Responsible and engaging communication allows practitioners to understand, evaluate and incorporate current nutrition research into practice to improve patient outcomes.

In this workshop, facilitators will discuss opportunities and common pitfalls in communicating and disseminating nutrition research. They will share unique experiences as researchers, fellows, and communicators of nutrition science. They'll discuss barriers to effective communication and how to overcome them to make nutrition research more accessible. The presenters will discuss how to tailor communication efforts to specific audiences and how RDNs at all levels can be part of spreading high-quality nutrition science messages.

In this interactive session, attendees will engage with each other and with the presenters to learn effective communication and dissemination methods. Attendees will engage in small group discussion case studies, practice crafting science-based messages, and determining methods for communicating and disseminating nutrition science in their own practice areas.

Attendees will learn skills to effectively and responsibly share nutrition science to impact evidence-based nutrition practice or policy. Attendees will leave the workshop with resources, tips, and strategies for communicating and disseminating complex nutrition science into easy to understand, actionable messaging for a variety of audiences.
