Description

As advancements in personalized nutrition transform the field of dietetics, registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) are uniquely positioned to guide this evolving landscape with integrity and expertise. This discussion will explore the latest innovations in personalized nutrition—spanning genetic testing, gut microbiome analysis, and other cutting-edge technologies—and discuss how RDNs can leverage these tools effectively and ethically. This session will include a series of case studies focusing on different aspects of ethical implementation of personalized nutrition technologies, including but not limited to protecting clients’ personal information, transparently communicating evidence of efficacy to clients, and choosing high-quality personalized nutrition tools. In addition, speakers will consider how to navigate implementing personalized nutrition technologies for clients with low socioeconomic status or other access issues or with privacy concerns. The speakers will provide guiding principles for implementing personalized nutrition into practice. Emphasizing the importance of accessibility, inclusivity, and professional responsibility, this session offers practical insights for dietitians who seek to incorporate personalized nutrition into their practice, while also adhering to ethical standards that protect client wellbeing.     Ginger Hultin

    Private Practice Owner, Ginger Hultin Nutrition PLLC

    Ginger Hultin, DCN, RDN, CSO is a Seattle-based Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and owner of Ginger Hultin Nutrition, a virtual practice specializing in integrative oncology, gastrointestinal health, and autoimmune conditions. A board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition, Ginger offers personalized, evidence-based care through anti-inflammatory diets and nutrigenomics. She serves as the Nutrition Clinic Coordinator and adjunct faculty at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, President-Elect of the Washington State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and is a former national Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Named Washington’s Outstanding Dietitian of the Year in 2024, Ginger is also the author of Anti-Inflammatory Diet Meal Prep and How to Eat to Beat Disease Cookbook. She holds degrees from the University of Washington (BA), Bastyr University (MS), and the University of North Florida (DCN).

    Mary Rozga

    Food and Nutrition Evaluation Project Manager, Altarum

    Dr. Mary Rozga has over 15 years of experience in generating and analyzing nutrition research, conducting systematic reviews, and developing evidence-based guidelines. As a Level 2 Nutrition Researcher at the Academy of Nutrition, she led more than 20 systematic reviews and meta-analyses, shaping national and international nutrition policies. Her expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research has strengthened the rigor and efficiency of systematic review processes. Dr. Rozga has collaborated with organizations such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), contributing to five national nutrition guidelines and over 55 peer-reviewed publications. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at Bowling Green State University, mentoring graduate students and teaching advanced nutrition courses. She also supported breastfeeding initiatives and policy implementation as a consultant for the Michigan Department of Community Health’s WIC Division. She currently works for Altarum evaluating community food and nutrition programs. She holds a PhD in Human Nutrition from Michigan State University, an MS in Nutrition Research from Bastyr University, and a BS in Dietetics from Central Michigan University. As a Certified Evidence-Based Practice Guideline Methodologist and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), she is committed to advancing health equity through rigorous research and policy development.

    Tamara Randall

    Instructor and Dietetic Internship Director, Case Western Reserve University

    Tammy Randall is Director of the MS in Public Health Nutrition Dietetic Internship program at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where she teaches classes in public health nutrition and diabetes prevention and management. Tammy previously held roles in clinical as well as community settings. Tammy has served the profession in a number of volunteer leadership roles including Speaker of the Academy’s House of Delegates, President of the Ohio Affiliate and CDR’s Exam Panel. Tammy is frequently recognized for her teaching and mentoring, most recently being named NDEP’s North Central Outstanding Dietetic Educator in a Dietetic Internship and the recipient of Case Western Reserve University's J. Bruce Jackson Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mentoring.
