New Jersey One Step Closer to Obtaining Licensure

11/19/2019 - The New Jersey Senate Committee on Commerce unanimously passed S2625 on Thursday, November 14. The full state senate is likely to vote on the bill in mid-December, with the full Assembly, which passed a previous iteration, taking up the amended Senate's version likely the same day.

The legislation would create one of the country's strongest regulatory regimes to protect the public by limiting the use of a number of confusing or misleading nutrition-related titles and a requirement that one be licensed in the state to provide medical nutrition therapy.

The New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has been advocating to obtain licensure for dietitian nutritionists for the 30 years.
