04/12/2017 - Idaho Governor Butch Otter signed Senate Bill 1191, the Dietetic Practice Act, last week. The legislation is the first update to Idaho’s licensure legislation since 1994.
The legislation was supported by the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which offered recommendations to a group comprised of members of the Idaho Board of Medicine, the Dietetic Licensure Board and the Idaho Academy Licensure Workgroup.
Those members met for 15 months and the results include updated definitions to:
- Describe the practice of dietetics;
- Clarify of dietetic practice;
- Specify requirements for licensure including provision for licensure by endorsement;
- Add grounds for discipline to align with the Idaho Medical Practice Act.
