01/25/2017 - The USDA is seeking to improve the economic status of rural communities by providing $27 million in grants for marketing opportunities. The grants are available to local and regional food producers and businesses through the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program, which includes the Farmers Market Promotion Program and the Local Food Promotion Program, and the Federal-State Marketing Improvement Program.
The deadline to apply for the grants is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, March 27.
The Agricultural Marketing Service will host a webinar on February 15 for those interested in applying through the FMPP and the LFPP and a teleconference on February 16 for those interested in applying through the FSMIP.
These programs were included in the Farm Bill and were priorities for the Academy.
