10/06/2017 - The Senate unanimously passed S. 870, the Creating High-Quality Results and Outcomes Necessary to Improve Chronic (CHRONIC) Care Act of 2017. The bill allows Medicare Advantage to use varied, improved tools for improving care for beneficiaries with chronic conditions by allowing more flexibility to customize benefits and providing innovative delivery of care to meet the needs of chronically ill Medicare beneficiaries.
One way the bill seeks to provide better access to care is through additional telehealth benefits for Medicare Advantage enrollees.
The Academy has been involved with the bill throughout the legislative process and will continue working to ensure the essential role of nutrition is properly recognized in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease.
The bill will now go to the House for consideration.
