12/22/2017 - Today, President Trump signed the tax reform bill (H.R. 1) into law. Congress had passed the bill on December 20. The Academy had concerns that tax bill's impact on the federal budget would have inhibited future federal investments in evidence-based health and nutrition programs, as well as eliminating the Social Services Block Grant and the Prevention and Public Health Fund. However, a provision in H.R. 1370, the short-term continuing resolution that the president signed December 22, waived these proposed cuts. The Academy will continue to support strong investment in nutrition services for prevention and treatment.
