06/07/2017 - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity released a new infographic, "Unfit to Serve: Obesity is Impacting National Security," in partnership with Mission Readiness.
The infographic details how the obesity epidemic affects national security, with more than a quarter of young adults being too heavy to serve in the military.
Mission Readiness is an organization of retired admirals and generals whose goal is to strengthen national security by ensuring children "stay in school, stay fit, and stay out of trouble." The Academy has worked with Mission Readiness on anti-obesity initiatives, including programs for legislators and media who attended the 2016 national party conventions.
