Legislation Aims to Understand and Prevent Pregnancy and Postpartum Deaths

12/19/2018 - The Preventing Maternal Deaths Act (H.R. 1318/S. 1112) passed the House and Senate last week and is expected to be signed into law before Congress adjourns. The bill authorizes $58 million annually for the Safe Motherhood program over the next five years, and includes $12 million for a new maternal mortality review committee program that will include registered dietitian nutritionists as members.
