Leaders Promote Malnutrition Screening and Assessment for Older Adults

11/05/2018 - Academy leaders delivered a key message to the Administration for Community Living: Screening for malnutrition should be strengthened in Older Americans Act programs.

Congregate meal dining and home delivered meals provide important opportunities for socialization and improved nutrition for seniors, but nutrition assessment and education are often under-utilized as network providers struggle to meet the needs of an over-burdened system.

Representatives from the Dietitians in Health Care Communities and Healthy Aging dietetic practice groups joined members of the Academy Board of Directors and policy leaders in the meeting which was intended to foster collaboration and increased communication with the agency.
