10/28/2019 - The House passed the Dignity in Aging Act of 2019 (H.R. 4334), which reauthorizes Older Americans Act programs, including congregate and home-delivered nutrition services that reduce senior hunger and help combat malnutrition.
Twelve thousand people turn 60 every day and funding for OAA programs has not kept pace with our nation's growing senior population. With up to one in two older adults at risk of becoming or already malnourished, support for these programs is crucial. This bill would increase funding for congregate and home-delivered nutrition services and recognizes the impact that OAA nutrition programs can have on senior malnutrition.
Last week, the Academy sent a message to Capitol Hill, urging Representatives to vote Yes for the Dignity in Aging Act of 2019, which follows a long-standing tradition of bipartisan support for Older Americans Act programs.
