04/11/2018 - Members of Congress are back in Washington, D.C. after a two-week recess. The House Agriculture Committee is expected to release its version of the farm bill later this week or early next week, and begin consideration of the bill on April 18.
The bill is likely to move quickly to the House floor for a vote by the full chamber. The Senate continues to work on its version, intending to mark up its bill soon. Additional complications driven by the U.S.-China trade dispute, which includes agriculture products, could also affect the farm bill.
The Academy continues to engage with Congress on nutrition programs in the bill.
