FDA Encourages Consumers to Check Harvest Location Labels

12/06/2018 - Although labeling regulations do not require produce to carry information regarding place-of-origin, the FDA has suggested that all romaine lettuce reflect the harvest date and location and is encouraging consumers to avoid purchasing any of the variety from the Central Coast of California or that does not reflect the information. FDA's recommendations for origin labeling does not yet extend to other types of lettuce and fresh produce.
