ERS and NIFA Relocating to Kansas City

06/18/2019 - Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced last week that the Economic Research Service and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture would be relocated to the Kansas City metropolitan area. Employees have a short window to decide if they want to relocate to Kansas City and will need to be ready for work by September 30.

The Academy expressed opposition to the long-distance relocations of these agencies earlier this year, stating that "the location of ERS and NIFA in the capital region is imperative to ensure food and agriculture research is well represented in strategic discussions and intra-agency collaboration."
