Advocacy Day Focuses On Treat and Reduce Obesity Act

02/27/2018 - The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as part of the Obesity Care Advocacy Network, is hosting an advocacy day to encourage the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to pass the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act, a critical step in addressing the obesity epidemic. The Academy’s registered dietitian nutritionists join patients, surgeons, endocrinologists and obesity care advocates in visiting congressional offices to ask Congress to support this bipartisan legislation that would allow RDNs and other qualified health care practitioners to provide intensive behavioral counseling services for Medicare beneficiaries with obesity and provide access to additional safe and effective pharmacotherapy solutions.

Members who cannot to join the Academy in Washington, D.C. can still take action by urging their members of Congress to support this bill to improve health care access and reduce health care costs.
