Academy Nominates Member to Presidential Advisory Council on Antibiotic Resistance

05/17/2019 - Lauren Landfried, PhD, RD, LD, FAND, has been nominated by the Academy to serve on the Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria. The council provides advice, information, and recommendations to the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services on initiatives that support and evaluate the implementation of U.S. government activities related to combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

The Academy strives to position highly qualified members on relevant committees and task forces to ensure members have a voice in policy decisions. Dr. Landfried's unique experience in nutrition and antibiotic resistance combined with her interest in serving led to her nomination.

The presence on the committee of a candidate with Dr. Landfried's diverse background would expand the committee's capacity and reach and ensure consideration of the manners in which antibiotics and their residues affect the nation and global food supply," stated Academy Chief Executive Officer Patricia Babjak in her nomination letter.
