Opportunities for Students to Get Involved with the Academy This Fall

By Matthew Landry, Chair, Student Advisory Committee

School is back in session and a bright and new year lies ahead. As the new semester begins, the Student Advisory Committee wants to provide you with tips to maximize your student membership this fall.

Awards for Local Student Dietetic Association and Clubs

The SAC will hold a fall award designed to recognize local student dietetic associations and clubs who organize recruitment or informational programs about Academy membership. Seek out your campus’ Academy student liaison for more information. If your campus doesn’t have a student liaison, consider applying to serve in this role. Learn more and find a volunteer form on the Academy’s student liaison page.

2018 Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo™

Every year, hundreds of dietitians attend to the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo™, an annual event hosted by the Academy. This year’s FNCE® is from October 20 to October 23 in Washington, D.C. Whether you’re an undergraduate just starting out or a dietetic intern, coming to FNCE® means finding opportunities for wherever you are in your career.

Public Policy Workshop

For the first time, the Academy's Public Policy Workshop will immediately follow FNCE®. PPW is an ideal opportunity to advance your advocacy skills and meet your congressional representatives during a visit to Capitol Hill. Attendance at PPW is complimentary with FNCE® registration.
