First International Nutritionist Dietitian Fellowship Fund for Study in the USA

02/23/2016 - The Foundation recently received a generous gift in the name of former Academy member Paquita de Leon Erdell, EdD, RD, who passed away at age 90. Erdell worked in many areas of dietetics and nutrition primarily at St. Luke's Hospital Center (now Mount Sinai St. Luke's Health System Hospitals) in New York City and was a trailblazer in the area of hemodialysis.

The donation will support the Academy Foundation's First International Nutritionist/Dietitian (FIND) Fellowship Fund for Study in the USA. The fund was established by Erdell and Academy member Alice Adelheid Wimpfheimer, MS, RDN, CDN, to assist foreign national students who are pursuing postgraduate work in the USA and who have a clearly articulated plan to bring their knowledge and training back to their home country. 2016 marks the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the FIND Fund. The contribution will ensure that the fund and the support it provides will live on.

A gift to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation is one of the most important and fulfilling ways you can promote dietetics. Planned gifts can help accomplish your personal financial goals as well as the Foundation's goal to fund the future of the dietetics profession through research and education. Remember to include the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation in your estate planning. Estate gifts of all sizes are greatly appreciated and can help the Foundation.
