10/07/2019 - The Academy recently joined nutrition scientists, advocates and policymakers at the 50th Anniversary of The White House Conference on Food, Nutrition and Health event. The convening examined the nutrition policies and programs that stemmed from the conference and reviewed the challenges and successes over the past five decades.
Although significant strides have been made to reduce hunger and food security, the prevalence of both continue to be well-documented in the United States. The dialogue included identification of new policy initiatives that will be published by the organizers.
The Academy was a sponsor of the events which was hosted by Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and the Harvard School of Public Health.
