Slight Decline in Household Food Insecurity

09/19/2019 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's annual food security report says 11.1 percent of U.S. households were food insecure in 2018, down from 11.8 percent in 2017. Approximately 37 million people are still food insecure, including more than 11 million children.

The Academy's Policy Initiatives and Advocacy Team continues to work to protect and strengthen federal nutrition programs such as SNAP, which are the first line of defense against food insecurity.
