Healthy Beverage Recommendations for Children

09/18/2019 - Developed through a collaboration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association, a new set of healthy beverage consensus recommendations for children (birth through age 5) includes breast milk, infant formula, water and plain milk. These recommendations, which can help set children on a path for healthy growth and development, caution against young children consuming beverages that are sources of added sugars, including flavored milks and sugar- and low-calorie sweetened beverages.
