10/02/2019 - The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics believes scientific research and evidence-based practice form the basis for healthful-eating recommendations and supports an individualized approach to helping people.
The newly released systematic reviews and recommendation statements refer to red meat consumption as three servings of 120g (4 oz.) per week which is much lower than the United States national average. These results are difficult to extrapolate for the U.S. average population. Additionally, and most importantly, the systematic reviews do show improvements of all-cause mortality and overall cancer mortality with lower red meat intake.
