CHICAGO – Nineteen national leaders in nutrition, health and business will serve as the 2018-2019 Board of Directors of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Representing more than 100,000 credentialed practitioners, the Academy is the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. The Board is responsible for strategic planning, policy development and fiscal management for the Academy.
Members of the Academy's Board of Directors will serve from June 1 until May 31, 2019. They are:
Hope Barkoukis, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND, Cleveland, Ohio, Director-at-Large
Barkoukis is the interim chair and an associate professor in the nutrition department at Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine.
Susan Brantley, MS, RDN, LDN, CNSD, FAND, Knoxville, Tenn., House of Delegates Director
Brantley is an adjunct faculty member in the dietetics program at Carson Newman University and an instructor in the physician's assistant program at South College.
Catherine W. Christie, PhD, RDN, LDN, FADA, FAND, Jacksonville, Fla., Treasurer-elect
Christie is the associate dean and professor at the University of North Florida's Brooks College of Health and a professor in the department of nutrition and dietetics, where she has worked since 2001.
Kevin Concannon, MSW, North Bethesda, Md., Public Member
Concannon served as Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences at the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 2009 until 2017.
Sharon A. Cox, MA, RDN, LDN, Charlotte, N.C., House of Delegates Director
Cox is the owner and cofounder of Cox Duncan Network, a foodservice consulting firm specializing in food safety, food management, health and nutrition.
Jo Jo Dantone-DeBarbieris, MS, RDN, LDN, CDE, FAND, LaPlace, La., Past Treasurer
Dantone-DeBarbieris is the president, chief executive officer and owner of Nutrition Education Resources, Inc., providing registered dietitian nutritionists' services to medical institutions; long-term care facilities, home health agencies; assisted-living facilities; hospitals; educational institutions and corporations.
David C. Donnan, MBA, PEng, Wilmette, Ill., Public Member
Donnan is a senior partner and the global food and beverage sector lead for A.T. Kearney, providing strategic and project advice including restructuring programs, acquisitions and growth opportunities to companies in the consumer products and retail sectors.
Diane W. Heller, MMSc, RDN, LD, FAND, Marietta, Ga., Speaker-elect, House of Delegates
Heller is a consultant at Nutrition Solutions, providing worksite nutrition programs for corporations including Ford Motor Company, as well as in physicians’ offices, and nutrition education in schools.
Manju Karkare, MS, RDN, LDN, FAND, Raleigh, N.C., Treasurer
Karkare is the owner of Nutritionally Yours LLC, a private practice offering personalized nutritional coaching focused on integrative and functional nutrition and weight management.
Marcy Kyle, RDN, LD, CDE, FAND, Rockport, Maine, House of Delegates Speaker
Kyle is Maine Health's regional manager of ambulatory nutrition and diabetes services at Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital and the nutrition specialist for the Pen Bay and Rockland Area YMCA.

Martin is director of the Burke County, Ga., school nutrition program.

Sauer is an associate professor in the department of food, nutrition, dietetics and health at Kansas State University and co-director of the Center for Food Safety in Child Nutrition Programs.

Shanley is the dietetics director in the department of allied health sciences at the University of Connecticut's College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources.
D. Milton Stokes, PhD, MPH, RD, FAND, St. Louis, Mo, House of Delegates Director
Stokes is director of global health and nutrition outreach at Monsanto Company.
Martin M. Yadrick, MBI, MS, RDN, FAND, Kansas City, Mo., Academy Foundation Chair
Yadrick is director of nutrition informatics for Computrition, Inc., a Los Angeles-based provider of software solutions to the nutrition and foodservice industry.
Patricia M. Babjak, MLIS, Chicago, Ill., Chief Executive Officer
Babjak joined the Academy in 1975 and became executive director of the Commission on Dietetic Registration in 1978, serving until 1998 when she became executive vice president for Strategic Management and Governance.
