2017 Medallion Award Winners

CHICAGO – The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics will present its prestigious 2017 Medallion Awards to seven registered dietitian nutritionists in recognition of outstanding service and leadership in the Academy and the nutrition and dietetics profession. Medallion Awards have been given to Academy members each year since 1976. The winners will receive their awards on Sunday, October 22, during the Academy's Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo, in Chicago, Ill. The 2017 Medallion Award recipients are:

  • Rita Batheja, MS, RDN, CDN, FAND, Baldwin Harbor, N.Y.
    Batheja is a private-practice consultant and integrative-functional medicine nutritionist.

  • Ethan A. Bergman, PhD, RDN, CDN, FADA, FAND, Ellensburg, Wash.
    Bergman is a professor of food science and nutrition and associate dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies at Central Washington University, and was the Academy's President in 2012-2013.

  • Becky Dorner, RDN, LD, FAND, Fairlawn, Ohio
    Dorner is the president and founder of Nutrition Consulting Services Inc. and Becky Dorner & Associates Inc.

  • Mary Patricia (Trisha) Fuhrman, MS, RDN, LD, FAND, FASPEN, Ballwin, Mo.
    Fuhrman is the owner of the consulting firm Malnutrition Antagonists and formerly the national director of nutrition at DCRX Infusion.

  • Anne Marie Hunter, PhD, RDN, LD, FADA, FAND, Springfield, Mo.
    Hunter is an assistant professor of biomedical sciences at Missouri State University.

  • Jacqueline B. Marcus, MS, RDN, LDN, CNS, FADA, FAND, Northfield, Ill.
    Marcus is the president and owner of Jacqueline B. Marcus & Associates food and nutrition consultants.

  • Sandra A. Parker, RDN, CDE, FAND, Boyne Falls, Mich.
    Parker's experience includes serving as a consultant dietitian to long-term care organizations and private industry as well as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
