Mega Issues and Backgrounders

Mega issues are overriding issues of strategic importance that cut across multiple goal or outcome areas. They address key strategic questions the organization must answer illuminating choices the organization must make and the challenges that will need to be overcome in moving toward the envisioned future. They articulate the questions that will need to be asked and answered by the Academy in the next 3 to 5 years.

A Mega Issue is strategic and futuristic in its scope and is projected to impact the profession 3 to 5 years into the future. The Mega Issues Process is an important tool for responding to members' needs related to far-reaching professional concerns.
