Hope Barkoukis

Barkoukis is the interim chair and an associate professor in the nutrition department at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine. She is also the faculty lead for the JJM Mandel Wellness and Preventative Care Pathway in the School of Medicine.

Previously, she worked in private practice and as a wellness and sports nutrition consultant to Fortune 500 companies; and was a public health and clinical research dietitian at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. In addition to teaching and counseling patients, Barkoukis conducts National Institutes of Health-sponsored research on the use of low glycemic and Mediterranean dietary interventions in varied populations.

Barkoukis has held numerous leadership positions in the Academy's Sports, Cardiovascular and Nutrition dietetic practice group, including chair, education director and development director. She has served on the Academy's Committee on Professional Development; Sponsorship Task Force; Advanced Practice Residencies Committee and as the Academy's representative to the American College of Sports Medicine.

Barkoukis is a graduate of Ursuline College. She earned a master’s degree and a doctorate from Case Western Reserve University.
