In the dynamic realm of nutrition, we often celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of those forging their own paths in private practice and innovative ventures. But what about nutrition professionals embedded in traditional workplace settings, who are catalyst for change from within? Enter the “intrapreneur”, the visionary who, even within the confines of established corporations, seizes the reins of innovation with audacious risk-taking. In today’s nutrition, health and wellness landscape, rife with complex challenges, the need for intrapreneurial thinkers and do-ers has never been greater. Speakers will delve into the defining characteristics of intrapreneurship and share compelling case studies spanning retail, media, public health, communications, government and the food industry. Attendees will embark on a journey to harness the power of intrapreneurship within their own organizations, and leave empowered to stimulate innovation, enhance the role of nutrition practitioners, and expand the capabilities of the nutrition and dietetics workface.

    Allison Primo, MS, RD, LD is the Health and Wellness Strategy Manager at Schnuck Markets based in St. Louis, Missouri. Her responsibilities range from leading strategic internal and external partnerships to developing omni-channel health programs to drive consumer behavior changes. She influences key marketing messages to promote healthier choices and builds customer loyalty as the spokesperson for health and nutrition at Schnucks and Eatwell Market by Schnucks. Prior to her role in retail, she worked in public health supporting community nutrition and education for the Snap-Ed program.

    Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak

    President & CEO, International Food Information Council (IFIC)

    Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN is President & CEO of the International Food Information Council (IFIC), a nonprofit education organization focused on effectively communicating science-based information about food safety, nutrition and sustainable food systems. Prior to IFIC, Wendy served as the President & CEO of the Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH). At PBH, she guided the Foundation’s efforts to advance fruit and vegetable consumption for happier, healthier lives. Under her leadership, the organization launched the Have A Plant® Movement and National Fruit & Veggies Month, which inspires millions of consumers to eat and enjoy more fruits and vegetables every day. From 2012 to 2016, Reinhardt Kapsak held multiple leadership positions in the Food, Nutrition & Health Partnerships and Corporate Engagement verticals at what is now collectively known as Bayer Crop Science. In these roles, her efforts focused on connecting the food, nutrition, culinary, and agriculture communities for greater understanding, collaboration and innovation. Wendy returned to IFIC after a previous tenure (2000–2012), including service as Senior Director, Health & Wellness, where she directed food and nutrition communication strategies, including consumer research, opinion leader and media outreach, as well as publications and partnerships, for multiple food, agriculture and nutrition issues.

    Emily is the Director of Nutrition Health and Wellness Initiatives at the National Pork Board. In this role, Emily leads internal key stakeholder education and external partner engagement through the Pork & Partners community, to increase awareness and manage the building and development of essential relationships to elevate the visibility of pork in nutrition, health and wellness. Prior to this role, Emily spent seven years leading nutrition efforts and marketing at the Minnesota-based grocery retailer, Coborn’s. Throughout her career, she developed a strong media presence and has experience with social media marketing and public speaking. Emily has been credited with over 75 TV segments and featured in several articles for her nutrition and retail experience.
