Nutrition and Dietetics Advocacy Summit

The Academy will not be hosting an in-person Nutrition and Dietetics Advocacy Summit in 2024 but there are several ways to engage in our policy efforts.

Rather than hold one day of advocacy, all Academy members – including students – are encouraged to get involved year-round by participating in an affinity group. There is a group dedicated to the following issues that impact the nutrition and dietetics profession: MNT Expansion; Nutrition Security; Licensure Initiatives; and Payment and Reimbursement. Convening once a month, these specialized groups connect members with an interest, experience and/or expertise in a specific policy issue area with opportunities to learn more and advocate.

For a deeper dive into the world of advocacy, complete the Academy’s Policy and Advocacy Certificate of Training, which consists of four modules that prepare nutrition professionals to advocate for policy change across all levels of government. There is 8 CPEU available to those who complete the Certificate of Training.

In addition, Academy members are invited to attend two upcoming nutrition-focused conferences that will take place in Washington, D.C.:

National Food Policy Conference (April 2-3)
