Wright is the graduate program director in the University of North Florida's Department of Nutrition and the director of the Center for Nutrition and Food Security. Her specialties include food-insecure individuals, malnutrition, global nutrition and the nutritional needs of people with HIV/AIDS. Wright has consulted with seniors in the Meals on Wheels program, providing nutrition education and counseling. She formerly worked as a clinical dietitian at the Veterans Administration, providing medical nutrition therapy for veterans with chronic disease. Serving as the Academy’s President in 2023-2024, Wright is a former Academy Spokesperson; a past Speaker of the House of Delegates; past president of the Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a former board member of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. Wright is a graduate of The Ohio State University. She earned a master's degree from Case Western Reserve University and a doctorate from the University of South Florida.
