Tewksbury is an assistant professor in nutrition science at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and the bariatric program manager at the university's health system. Tewksbury is the past president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a former president of the Philadelphia Academy. She is a facilitator for the Commission on Dietetic Registration's certificate of training in obesity interventions for adults and a subject matter expert for its certified specialist in obesity and weight management board examination. Tewksbury is a member of the Academy's Nutrition Educators of Health Professionals, Research and Weight Management dietetic practice groups. She graduated from La Salle University, earned a master's degree in public health from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate from Temple University.
