The Academy has developed a Research Philosophy and Structure for the organization that reflects its emphasis on evidence-based practice.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics believes that research forms the foundation of the profession and provides the basis for practice, education and policy. All research priorities of the Academy are grounded in the core sciences of food, nutrition, social or business as well as chemistry, biology, psychology and mathematics. Interactions among these sciences impact the achievement and maintenance of optimal nutrition status for individuals and population groups.
The Research, International and Scientific Affairs (RISA) strategic plan establishes a structure for the Academy’s research activities, which are coordinated by the Council on Research.
