The House of Delegates, as the voice of members, governs the profession and develops policy on major professional issues. The House of Delegates will govern the profession; the Board of Directors will govern the Academy; and staff will implement decisions. The process by which the House of Delegates is governed is known as Knowledge-Based Strategic Governance (KBSG).
Each state, almost all Dietetic Practice Groups and area of practice are represented by one or more delegates for a total of 105 delegates. The House Leadership Team (HLT) develops and implements program goals of the House.
The House is presided by Speaker of the House Linda T. Farr, RDN, LD, FAND.
Members are key linkages to the Academy's constituency. The House of Delegates supports and encourages proactive, from the bottom-up member advocacy, and continually seeks member input.
Also a forum of leadership development, the House enhances the culture of the Academy by embracing its values, developing a progressive culture, and reflecting the diversity and the future of the organization through policies, actions and composition.
