2017 Standards and Templates

The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®) Board has released the 2017 Accreditation Standards for Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Programs (CP), Didactic Programs (DPD), Internship Programs (DI), Technician Programs (DT) and Foreign (FDE) and International (IDE) Dietitian Programs. The 2017 Standards are the results of a planned five-year review cycle of the 2012 Accreditation Standards to ensure compliance with USDE regulations. ACEND® thanks all who participated in surveys and provided input throughout their development.


Implementation Dates

  • September 1, 2016 - Eligibility applications for new programs in nutrition and dietetics must be submitted under the 2017 Standards
  • June 1, 2017 - All programs must implement and come into compliance with the 2017 Standards to earn or maintain ACEND® accreditation. PARs submitted after June 1, 2017 and self-study reports submitted for site visits after June 1, 2017 will need to show compliance with the 2017 Standards.
  • January 3, 2018 - All programs must submit their curriculum map and student learning outcomes assessment plans based on the 2017 Standards via email to [email protected].

Proposed Revisions to the 2017 ACEND Accreditation Standards

ACEND is proposing some minor changes to the 2017 ACEND Accreditation Standards to improve clarity and is releasing those changes for public comment. The changes are noted as track changes in the draft revisions below.

ACEND encourages all stakeholders to provide input by December 4, 2017 at the survey for 2017 Standards.
