Healthier Generation Benefit

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation launched the Healthier Generation Benefit, a joint initiative of the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation, in 2009. This initiative brings together leading insurers, employers and national medical associations to offer comprehensive health benefits to address the childhood obesity epidemic.

In that effort, the Healthier Generation Benefit formed the Alliance Healthcare Initiative, a collaborative effort to offer comprehensive health benefits to children and families for the prevention, assessment and treatment of childhood obesity. Doctors and registered dietitian nutritionists will be reimbursed for providing in depth nutrition counseling over multiple visits to those children that are referred by their doctors.
